Root fungal endophytes: identity, phylogeny and roles in plant tolerance to metal stress

چکیده
Metal trace elements accumulate in soils mainly because of anthropic activities, leading living organisms to develop strategies handle metal toxicity. Plants often associate with root endophytic fungi, including nonmycorrhizal and some these are associated tolerance. The lack synthetic analyses plant-endophyte-metal tripartite systems the scant consideration for taxonomy led this review aiming (1) inventory non-mycorrhizal fungal endophytes described respect their taxonomic diversity (2) determine mutualistic roles plant-fungus associations under stress. More than 1500 species 100 orders (mainly Hypocreales Pleosporales) were reported from a wide variety environments hosts. Most had positive effect on host stress, but various effects uptake or translocation no clear consistency. Future research considering functional patterns dynamics is thus encouraged.

Fungal endophytes: diversity and functional roles.
All plants in natural ecosystems appear to be symbiotic with fungal endophytes. This highly diverse group of fungi can have profound impacts on plant communities through increasing fitness by conferring abiotic and biotic stress tolerance, increasing biomass and decreasing water consumption, or decreasing fitness by altering resource allocation. Despite more than 100 yr of research resulting in...
متن کاملMedia Manipulations and the Culture of Beneficial Fungal Root Endophytes
Fungal endophytes have great potential as biocontrol and biofertilisation agents for food crops, and it is important to understand and optimise the cultural conditions for endophyte emergence and growth. A range of commercial culture media were tested for their effect on endophyte recovery from the roots of their host (Hordeum murinum), and for their subsequent growth and sporulation. Furthermo...
متن کاملPotential roles for microbial endophytes in herbicide tolerance in plants
Herbicide tolerance in crops and weeds is considered to be monotrophic, i.e. determined by the relative susceptibility of the physiological process targeted and the plant's ability to metabolise and detoxify the agrochemical. A growing body of evidence now suggests that endophytes, microbes that inhabit plant tissues and provide a range of growth, health and defence enhancements, can contribute...

Zinc (Zn) is an essential micronutrient for plants, playing catalytic or structural roles in enzymes, transcription factors, ribosomes, and membranes. In humans, Zn deficiency is the second most common mineral nutritional disorder, affecting around 30% of the world's population. People living in poverty usually have diets based on milled cereals, which contain low Zn concentrations. Biofortific...
متن کاملFungal endophytes: common host plant symbionts but uncommon mutualists.
Fungal endophytes are extremely common and highly diverse microorganisms that live within plant tissues, but usually remain asymptomatic. Endophytes traditionally have been considered plant mutualists, mainly by reducing herbivory via production of mycotoxins, such as alkaloids. However, the vast majority of endophytes, especially horizontally-transmitted ones commonly found in woody plants, ap...
